Phosphorus Levels in Biochar-amended Green Roof Discharge

The student will be working on a project with the Faculty of Forestry to study the level of phosphorus in discharge from green roof growing media that it amended with biochar.
Expectations
Students will collect water samples once a week and test for total phosphorus. From this work we will determine if biochar-amendments reduce the release of phosphorus in stormwater discharge from green roofs. Student will have to complete WHIMS and will work with small amounts of chemicals in a lab environment.
Time commitment
3-5 hours per week
Credentials
Student must work well independently. Lab experience is a plus (but not necessary). 3rd or 4th year with a 3.0 GPA or higher.
