Investigating the Influence of Soil Particle Orientation on its Engineering Response
Civil Engineering
The student(s) will be working in our Geotechnical laboratory preparing samples of soil with different particle arrangements by creating depositional environments that replicate those of rivers and lakes as well as construction. They will investigate the quality and consistency of their samples before loading them under controlled pressure conditions to figure out what effect these different initial particle arrangements have on soils' response as an engineering material.
Expectations
Producing result in the form of tables and graphs, preparing Powerpoint presentations and presenting to the research group and at REX final seminar.
Time commitment
Minimum 8 hours per week
Credentials
We will train the students to do the work. Self-motivated, problem solver and most importantly go-getter!
